Past September, I had the chance to flew from Paris to Geneva to photograph Alina & Loris’ wedding at the luxurious Four Season Hotel des Bergues.
It is the second time I photograph a wedding at this beautiful venue, the first time being for Martine & Henri’s wedding back in 2018, with the best luxury event planner Loukia Arapian.
Both Alina and Loris are lucky to live in the beautiful Geneva and at first, the wedding was supposed to happen in May 2020 in Moldavia, the home country of Alina. They chose the most beautiful and grand chateau of Chisinau and I was beyond excited to travel and discover this country. Sadly, Covid happenned and travels are made difficult for everyone. Alina & Loris decided then to have their wedding in Geneva instead with 30 of their closest friends and family at this sumptuous venue.
In the morning of their wedding day, Alina was getting ready in a suite from the hotel and was pampered by the talented Juliet Martin. Wearing a soft silk ensemble, she treated herself some champagne and some macarons while getting ready for her big day.
In the meantime, I had some fun with the accessories such as the cute rolled invitation, the sexy Louboutins shoes and the exquisite engagement ring. This engagement ring was a bespoke creation designed by the fiancé himself so, in addition of being an unique piece, it has also such a beautiful meaning from Loris to Alina.
As she is almost ready, Loukia, who was also her bridesmaid, helped the bride to put on her delicate white tuxedo custom made by Callalilies Studio. Alina wanted a modern yet very elegant vibe for her first outfit (wait for it !). Every girls friends were in awe when she walked out from her room.
Alina and Loris met in front of the city hall of Les Eaux Vives, surrounded by their friends and family. Some of their family that could not travel from Italy or Moldavia were there with them by Zoom as well and it added so much emotion and (high tech) magic. In this particular moment, I felt that they were very loved and it was quite moving for me (secret happy tear…).
We then headed to the old city center of Geneva to take some photos just the two of them. Cobblestone streets, beautiful historic buildings, I was surprised to discover that part of this city I visited several times. We enjoyed a beautiful sun light shining through the streets and walked through the old town. What a nice moment for the newlyweds to enjoy some time off, just the two of them, holding hands, hugging and kissing in this beautiful surrounding. The couple session is always a good idea to escape a bit from the guests and to appreciate these new moments as huband and wife.
Now, time to go back to the Hotel des Bergues to take some more photos at the entrance that is so photo-worthy and to sip some champagne !
While the guests are enjoying the sun setting over the lake from the balcony, Alina changed to her evening dress, designed by Callalilies as well. We take the opportunity to do a “first look” in the stairs and when Loris saw Alina walking down the stairs, he had stars in the eyes and his jaws literally dropped.
When the dinner was served, Alina & Loris and their guests were seated all together at a long table decorated by Loukia Arapian. As I am writing this blog post, I feel like I can hear again their laugthers and the joy of this evening. I was so glad to capture this heartfelt wedding full of emotional moments and happy embraces. Seeing two people madly in love with each other and to be able to celebrate it in such a beautiful place during 2020 made it even more special.
